Time to catch a sweat-free TNF same-game parlay

What a (hopeful) treat we have for ourselves in this Chargers-Chiefs game tonight! Two AFC favorites out of the AFC West with two of the best quarterbacks in the league in Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. It doesn't get much better than this.

Instead of a bet on the winner or the spread, we're turning our attention to FanDuel. "Why?", You ask. A Sweat-Free Same Game Parlay. That's right, if you log on to your FD account, you should see a promotion (opt in!) that gives you a sweat-free bet for tonight's game. The amount varies, but if you place an SGP on tonight's game, you will be refunded your wager if it loses. We have no plans on losing; here's what we've cooked up.

Correlated +2283 SGP for two top pass-catchers

  • Travis Kelce 100+ yards
  • Travis Kelce TD
  • Mike Williams 100+ yards
  • Mike Williams TD

Instead of spreading our net around on too many players, we've narrowed this play down to just Travis Kelce and Mike Williams having big games tonight.

The case for Travis Kelce — No team allowed more yards to tight ends last season than the Chargers, and that continued in Week 1 as Darren Waller hauled in four balls for 79 yards. Kelce was a big part of Los Angeles leading the league in yards allowed to TEs, as he finished his two games against them with 104 and 191 yards, scoring twice. With Tyreek Hill gone, Kelce is Mahomes' unquestionable top target, and he had a strong start to his year, hauling in eight balls for 121 yards and a score in Week 1. Kelce has now scored in seven straight games.

The case for Mike Williams — Mike Williams had a disappointing Week 1 performance, especially considering Keenan Allen missed most of the game due to injury. Williams caught just two passes for 10 yards, but he tends to go up and down, so we're betting on the bounce back tonight. Williams has had some big games against the Chiefs recently, especially when playing in Kansas City. In his past two games at Arrowhead, Williams has finished with yardage totals of 108 and 122, scoring three touchdowns. With no Allen, Williams is WR1 for the Chargers and considering we like Herbert to have a big game through the air, the logical choice is to turn to his vertical threat.

By all means, water this down a bit and pick a lower alternate yards total. Given the risk-free nature of this bet, we're going for gold. Good luck tonight, and enjoy the game!

In the news ...

PGA Fortinet Championship starts today — Golf doesn't have much of an offseason, does it? The new season is already here, as the Fortinet Championship tees off in Scottsdale Thursday morning. Max Homa won here last year and is the betting favorite at +1000 to win again. There are some big names hitting the course this weekend, but we're looking to Maverick McNealy to finish in the top 10 after he tied for second here last year. Those odds are available at +260.

EuroBasket semis set — In case you haven't been following, EuroBasket has been home to some of the NBA's best battling it out for the home countries. The field is down to four, with the headlining participant France, coming off a huge comeback victory in the quarterfinals. Led by Rudy Gobert and Evan Fournier, Les Bleus are the favorites to win it at all at +110. The other three countries left in the field are Poland, Germany and Spain. The semis tip off Friday morning.

Get started with your college football research — There are just two games on Friday before Week 3 gets going on the college gridiron, and it's never too early to start digging into the matchups. We have only two games scheduled that feature two top-25 teams: No. 12 BYU at No. 25 Oregon (-3.5) and No. 13 Miami at No. 24 Texas A&M (-5.5). After being upset by Appalachian State and the preceding cringey video that came out from Texas A&M, something is telling us to bet Miami on Saturday.
