Tom Brady is ramping up preparations for his upcoming charity golf event, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback recently enjoyed a whimsical day on the course with late-night host James Corden to blow off some steam.

A series of dispatches from the official Twitter account of “The Late Late Show with James Corden” chronicled in part the highlights from the pairing’s silly day of shenanigans on the links. Clips include footage of their pre-round stretching routine, a video chat with Phil Mickelson — Brady’s playing partner in “The Match” — as well as Corden trying to throw a football through a tire and the two singing a song from the Broadway smash “Hamilton.”

Capital One’s The Match will air on July 6. The charity event will feature Brady and Mickelson taking on Bryson DeChambeau and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers at the The Reserve at Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Mont. Proceeds from the showdown will benefit Feeding America and other charitable organizations, according to the PGA Tour’s official site.

This will of course be Brady’s second go-round with “The Match” setup. He and Mickelson took on a Tiger Woods-Peyton Manning pairing last May. Unfortunately, Brady was roundly mocked and ridiculed for his substandard level of play throughout a majority of the event that was held at the Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Fla.

It does merit noting, however, that Brady did pull off the shot of the day when he holed out from 100-plus yards for birdie on the seventh hole. Unfortunately, even that brilliant display of shotmaking ended in nightmarish fashion, as Brady ended up comically splitting his pants while retrieving his ball from the hole.

To be fair, Brady actually ended up playing some decent golf as “The Match” progressed before he and Mickelson narrowly lost to the Woods-Manning pairing, and he’s demonstrated a pretty good sense of humor ever since over his tough day on the links.

Smack talk unsurprisingly has once again been the name of the game leading up to the next iteration of “The Match,” with most of it coming courtesy of Brady, a renowned wisenheimer, particularly on social media.

Just this week, Brady took to Twitter to talk some trash and showcase his putting prowess in an amusing video.

Video of the entire golf outing and associated shenanigans from Brady and Corden follows.
