Tom Brady on Lombardi Trophy toss: 'I was not thinking at that moment'

In his first interview since the legendary Lombardi Trophy toss at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Super Bowl boat parade, Tom Brady said on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" that he doesn't remember it as well as everyone else does.

Brady also said he was happy tight end Cameron Brate caught the trophy. If he hadn't caught it, the Lombardi would be under 80 feet of water at the bottom of the Hillsborough River.

"First of all, I was not thinking at that moment. It was not a thought. It was, 'This seems really fun to do,'" Brady said. "Not to mention, when you get your hands on one of those trophies, there's a lot of really sharp edges on the bottom. ... I found out later, had that been an incomplete pass, that would have went down like 80 feet. I'm so happy that [tight end] Cam [Brate caught it]."

According to ESPN's Jenna Laine, if Brady's throw ended poorly, the Buccaneers would've ordered a replacement trophy.

Brady also admitted in the interview that his wife, Gisele Bundchen, asked him, "What more do you have to prove?" after winning his seventh Super Bowl title. To be fair, she's right. The 43-year-old is the most accomplished quarterback in NFL history and is widely considered the greatest of all time.

However, even with seven Super Bowl titles, five Super Bowl MVPs, three NFL MVPs and two Offensive Player of the Year awards, among various other accolades, Brady is set to return for his 22nd season in the NFL in 2021.
