Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Tom Brady presumably is receiving a fair share of well wishes ahead of his 14th appearance in a conference championship game, and one of his oldest NFL pals made sure to offer congratulations on such a remarkable accomplishment.

In his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady has led his new team to within one victory of Super Bowl berth. One of Brady’s longtime New England Patriots teammates on Tuesday broke ranks, as it were, to give the veteran signal-caller a shout-out.

Julian Edelman took to Instagram this week to react to Brady again delivering in the divisional round of the playoffs, noting how the legendary quarterback is now 14-2 in such games.

Among the over 3,000 comments to Edelman’s Instagram dispatch was one from Brady. As he is wont to do in response to his pal’s posts, he reacted to the tribute from his longtime Patriots teammate.

Brady wrote, “Love u lil bro!” before adding a heart emoji in reaction to Edelman’s Instagram post.

Patriots fans — not to mention followers of the bromance enjoyed by Brady and Edelman over the years — know the two best buddies frequently engage on Twitter and elsewhere on social media, often in comical fashion.

Edelman and Brady won three Super Bowls together with the Patriots, and it’s clear their friendship endures despite the quarterback’s departure. There is little doubt that Edelman will be pulling for his buddy as Brady seeks a 10th trip to the Super Bowl and the opportunity to win a seventh ring in Sunday’s showdown with the Green Bay Packers.
