Tom Brady: Shoulder is 'OK' after scare in Chiefs game
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 41-31 in the much-anticipated Week 4 "Sunday Night Football" game but managed to avoid what could've become a disaster after star quarterback Tom Brady appeared to hurt his throwing shoulder in the second quarter of that loss.
Per Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times, Brady insisted during Monday's edition of the "Let's Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast with broadcaster Jim Gray that his shoulder is "doing OK" and that longtime trainer Alex Guerrero will have him ready to take the field when the 2-2 Buccaneers host the 2-2 Atlanta Falcons this coming Sunday:
As Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio pointed out, Tampa Bay backup option Blaine Gabbert loosened up on Sunday night in case his services were needed against the Chiefs. They weren't, and Brady ultimately completed 39-of-52 pass attempts for 385 yards and three touchdowns in the losing effort.
According to ESPN stats, the seven-time Super Bowl champion began Monday 10th among eligible quarterbacks with a 97.7 passer rating and 12th with a 56.5 total QBR for the campaign. Brady has completed 68.4% of his attempts, is eighth overall with 1,058 yards through the air, and has six touchdown passes to go along with just a single interception this season.
Last month, Brady dealt with a lingering right finger issue that wasn't initially mentioned on an injury report. It's assumed the 45-year-old will have his name listed on a report later this week before the Falcons clash.
