Tony Romo, Cam Newton say Greg Hardy is a good teammate

Despite facing criticism from seemingly every corner of the universe, at least one of defensive end Greg Hardy's fellow Cowboys believe he is a good teammate.

That teammate? Starting quarterback Tony Romo.

Hardy, who was convicted on domestic violence charges last year, has been a lighting rod for controversy since the Dallas Cowboys signed him earlier this year. The former All-Pro defensive end has received very little public support, so to hear his team's quarterback endorse him as a good teammate might go a little way in altering public opinion on Hardy.

Of course, Romo might also be just giving a politically correct answer about a teammate to the media.

However, Romo is not alone in his assessment of Hardy. His former teammate when Hardy was with the Carolina Panthers and fellow quarterback Cam Newton also spoke highly of Hardy as a teammate:

“Greg is a great teammate contrary to popular belief,” Newton said. “He’s a person who came in and worked hard, gave everybody everything that he had. … A person that you loved to watch on Sundays. Anytime you’ve got a person like that he’s always great to watch, and I’m wishing him the best.”

Hardy and Cowboys take on Newton and Hardy's former team, the Carolina Panthers, Thanksgiving day.

Hardy has 4.5 sacks in six games thus far this season for the Cowboys.
