Twitter roasts Broncos QB Russell Wilson following Week 5 loss to Colts

For fans of offense, the Week 5 "Thursday Night Football" showdown between the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts was likely a nightmare. The Colts may have come away with a hard-fought, tight 12-9 victory in overtime, but the numbers for both quarterbacks don't lie.

Broncos wide receiver KJ Hamler was, by all accounts, very much open for a potential game-winning touchdown pass in overtime, and analysts and fans alike roasted Broncos big-money quarterback Russell Wilson following the effort.

Kyle Brandt of "Good Morning America" even opined Friday morning that the relationship between the former Seattle Seahawks legend and his new employer was in danger of falling "off the rails."

Wilson's longtime former teammate Richard Sherman -- who was in Denver for the game, working as an analyst for Amazon Prime's "Thursday Night Football" -- took to Twitter in the late stages of the game and immediately after the contest. Sherman couldn't help but feel a sense of déjà vu, seeing similarities to Wilson's infamous interception at the end of Super Bowl XLIX.

Football fans across social media had some entertaining video edits of Wilson to show their thoughts on his performance as well.

The Broncos will look to get back on track in Week 6 on "Monday Night Football" when they face the Los Angeles Chargers at 8:15 p.m. ET on Oct. 17.
