Video shows police forcibly removing Marshawn Lynch from car during DUI arrest

The story involving popular former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch getting arrested Tuesday morning in Las Vegas on suspicion of driving under the influence has since taken multiple turns.

It was reported on Wednesday that the 2020 Shelby GT500 that Lynch was allegedly operating at approximately 7:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday had one tire flat and another completely missing from the vehicle. As noted by Ethan Sears of the New York Post and Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released body camera footage of the incident shared by TMZ Sports on Thursday:

"I’m not driving," Lynch can be heard telling a police officer during the shared video. "The car’s not on. What is the problem? I’m just asking what is the problem?"

In their report, officers said they found Lynch asleep at the wheel.

"Right now, if you don’t get out of the vehicle, you’re going to be charged with obstructing an investigation," an officer responds. "That is a criminal offense and you will go to jail."

The five-time Pro Bowl selection did not comply and was eventually dragged out of the vehicle and ordered to roll to his stomach and place his hands behind his back. One officer can be heard commenting that Lynch "does smell like alcohol."

In the closing seconds of the video, one officer asks: "Isn’t (he) Marshawn Lynch the football player?"

On Monday, the Seahawks announced Lynch would "act as a special correspondent for the team, where he will produce creative content for a variety of projects" during the 2022 NFL season. Per Sears, the 36-year-old is facing charges of DUI, failure or refusal to surrender proof of insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, and failure to drive in a travel lane. He has a court date scheduled for Dec. 7.

It's unclear if Lynch's legal situation will affect his relationship with the Seahawks for the upcoming campaign.
