Seahawks legend Marshawn Lynch arrested on suspicion of DUI in Las Vegas

The Seattle Seahawks announced on Monday that popular former running back Marshawn Lynch, who featured for the organization from 2010 through the 2015 season and again during the 2019 campaign, was scheduled to "act as a special correspondent for the team, where he will produce creative content for a variety of projects" during the upcoming season.

Lynch's name was in headlines for a different reason on Tuesday.

Per Jared Greenspan of the New York Post and the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Lynch was arrested Tuesday morning in Las Vegas on suspicion of driving under the influence.

"The LVMPD conducted a vehicle stop at Fairfield Avenue and West Utah Avenue (near Wyoming and Las Vegas BLVD) on a driver, later identified as Marshawn Lynch, for suspected driver impairment," the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a shared statement. "Through the course of the investigation, officers determined that Lynch was impaired and conducted an arrest. Lynch was transported to the Las Vegas City Jail and booked for driving under the influence."

According to the AP, it's unclear if the five-time Pro Bowl selection was tested for driving impaired. Previously, Lynch was arrested by the California Highway Patrol for DUI in 2012 but settled that case by pleading guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving in 2014.

The 36-year-old who also completed stints with the Buffalo Bills and the then-Oakland Raiders last played in a meaningful NFL game for the Seahawks in January 2020. It's unknown if this development will affect his status with the club moving forward.
