Minnesota Vikings quarterback Jaren Hall Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings are changing quarterbacks once again.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell announced on Thursday that rookie Jaren Hall will start in Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers.

Hall started for the Vikings against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 after Kirk Cousins suffered a torn Achilles in Minnesota’s previous game. The former BYU star went 5/6 for 78 yards before suffering a concussion. Joshua Dobbs then took over for the Vikings and led them to a remarkable comeback win just days after he was acquired in a trade.

The performance was enough to inspire O’Connell to name Dobbs the starter. Dobbs held on to the job for several weeks, but he was benched in favor of Nick Mullens in Week 15.

Mullens struggled in his two starts. He threw for a whopping 714 yards and four touchdowns across the two games but also had six interceptions. His four interceptions in Sunday’s 30-24 loss to the Detroit Lions were costly.

Minnesota fell to 7-8 on the season with the loss to Detroit. The Vikings are still in eighth place in the NFC, so they are alive in the playoff hunt. They are hoping Hall can pull off some-late season magic, though star wide receiver Justin Jefferson does not seem overly confident in the team at the moment.
