Vikings Pro Bowl RB Dalvin Cook ruled out vs. Falcons with groin injury

The Minnesota Vikings will have to rely heavily on Alexander Mattison in the backfield on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, who are looking for their first win of the season.

Minnesota announced Friday that running back Dalvin Cook has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup with a groin injury.

Cook suffered the injury on the first play of the Vikings' opening drive in the second half of last week's loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

The 25-year-old, who signed a five-year, $63 million extension with Minnesota before the season, leads the NFL with 489 rushing yards this season. Cook has seven touchdowns this season and 12 receptions for 64 yards.
