Vikings WR Jordan Addison addresses recent arrest

Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison is primed to build off his impressive rookie year in which he registered 70 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns, but that may be delayed due to some offseason trouble.

Addison was arrested on July 12 in California on suspicion of DUI after being found asleep behind the wheel near LAX.

Addison didn't discuss any details, citing advice from his attorney and agent, but did say he is willing to accept any punishment the NFL hands him.

"I'm not sure what's going on," Addison said, via Mark Craig of the Star Tribune. "I own up to whatever it is, whatever disciplinary actions that come my way. I'm going to stand tall, get through it. Same thing [with the team]. Whatever is out there for me, I'm going to stand on all 10 and take whatever come with it. I own up to everything. I feel anything that comes my way was meant to happen or is deserved. So I'll do what I do."

Addison could very well receive a suspension, as this is his second driving-related incident in a year. In 2023, he was cited for speeding and reckless driving prior to training camp.

That is unlikely to come from Minnesota, but head coach Kevin O'Connell did express disappointment in Addison.

"Of course we're disappointed in Jordan," O'Connell said. "We care about these players, we really do, and we want to make sure we're doing our part for development on the field. The other aspect of that is off the field and the life skills, development, decision making and learning how important it is within our culture that we're very proud of, that our players understand personal responsibility and accountability to that point."

While the 22-year-old will have to prove it with his actions, he has since assured O'Connell that he will make better decisions in the future.

"Just make sure I put it behind me, because at the end of the day, I've got a job to do,” Addison said, via Jeff Wald of Fox9. "My job is to come in here and work, so that's what I'm going to do. ...They know my character. They know my heart, so I just come out here every day and show them I'm moving past it. I'm going to keep learning."

The Vikings are hoping Addison sticks to his word as he's set to play a key role in the offense once again this season.
