Von Miller was 'ready' to sign with Cowboys but 'wouldn't take that much less' money

Before eventually signing with the Buffalo Bills on a six-year, $120 million deal in March, linebacker Von Miller nearly returned to the Super Bowl-champion Los Angeles Rams. He also came very close to signing with the Dallas Cowboys, which were reportedly "doing due diligence" on the eight-time Pro Bowler.

The Cowboys offered Miller a five-year, $70 million contract, which wasn't enough to bring him to the NFC East.

"I told them I was ready to come to the Cowboys," Miller said, per Dan Pompeii of The Athletic. "I would have taken less to go to Dallas because it's Dallas. But I wouldn't take that much less."

The 33-year-old finished the 2021 regular season with 50 tackles and 9.5 sacks in 15 games split between the Rams and Denver Broncos. Miller added 14 tackles, six quarterback hits, four sacks, one pass defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery over four postseason games as well.

"This place chose me," Miller said. "Buffalo just chose me. And it's been trying to choose me all of these years."

Miller won a Super Bowl title (and game MVP honors) with Denver in 2016 and his second crown in 2022 with Los Angeles. He'll try to help lead Buffalo to their first championship in franchise history in the upcoming season.
