Watch: 49ers CB Charvarius Ward has 66-yard pick-six

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward turned on the jets against the Arizona Cardinals.

With 4:22 remaining in the first quarter, Ward intercepted Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and returned it for a 66-yard TD giving the 49ers a 14-7 lead.

The 49ers defense is one reason they're a Super Bowl contender. Entering Week 15, San Francisco was first in the NFL in points allowed (15.8) and had generated 23 takeaways, which is near the top of the league.

Conversely, the Cardinals offense has floundered throughout the season. They rank 27th in the NFL in points scored (17.7) and 30th in passing yards (172.4) while quarterback Kyler Murray – who recently returned from an ACL tear – has completed 60.8 percent of his passes for 864 yards, three TDs, two picks and a below-average 49.8 QBR in four games.

So, it could be a long day for Arizona if it keeps making critical mistakes.
