Watch: Jalen Hurts looks puzzled

Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts has a new look. It has nothing to do with his $255M contract or recent partnership with Michael Jordan and everything to do with a ubiquitous toy from the 1980’s.

The Rubik’s Cube was a worldwide phenomenon in the 80’s and today more than 350 million cubes have been sold globally, some to the Philadelphia Eagles, who commissioned a young artist (and even younger Eagles fans) to create a portrait of Hurts made entirely out of Rubik's Cubes.

Dylan Sadiq (aka “The College Cuber”) is a Biomedical Engineering graduate from Rutgers University and an obvious sports fan. In the past he’s used the popular toy to create mosaics of former New York Jets center Nick Mangold and current Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James. Last year, he created a piece to pay tribute to the Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin during the safety's recovery from cardiac arrest.

The New Jersey native typically needs about three hours to complete a portrait, but he had a little help with the Hurts project. Throughout Eagles practice, children were encouraged to help create an image of Hurts and in return, they received a mini-cube, sticker and the chance to sign their name behind the artwork.

Philadelphia should be commended for offering such a unique experience for their young fans. During the regular season, Lincoln Financial Field isn’t exactly known for its family-friendly environment.

But the kids seemed to enjoy the process and fans of all ages were amazed with the final product. There’s no word on how Hurts feels about the portrait, but hopefully he’s flattered. Maybe next year they’ll do one for left tackle Jordan Mailata, but they’re going to need a lot more cubes.
