Wide receiver James Washington requests trade from Steelers

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington has requested a trade, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Washington reportedly wants out of Pittsburgh because of his lack of playing time last season and in Thursday's Hall of Fame game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The 25-year-old appeared in all 16 games last season, catching 30 passes on 56 targets for 392 yards and five touchdowns. His role was reduced following the arrival of Chase Claypool last year.

Washington was Pittsburgh's No. 4 receiver behind Claypool, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson in 2020.

The 2018 second-round pick has a total of 90 catches for 1,344 yards and nine touchdowns in 45 career games with the Steelers.
