Former New England Patriots quarterback Will Grier found a new home in free agency. He has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the news.

Grier was part of a quarterback carousel continued for the New England Patriots last season. Including preseason, the team cycled through Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe, Malik Cunningham, Trace McSorley, Matt Corral, Ian Book, Will Grier, and Nathan Rourke in 2023.

New England signed Grier on Sept. 21, 2023. from the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad. His previous NFL stops had been with the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys. His only NFL action came as a rookie with Carolina in 2019. He remained with the Patriots for the next two months. Although both Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe struggled for New England, Grier never got an opportunity to play in any games.

On Nov. 25, 2023, the Patriots waived Greer. New England brought him back to the practice squad days later. He remained on there until being signed to the Los Angeles Chargers active roster on Dec. 18, 2023. He did not appear in any game action for the Chargers.

Will Grier joins a quarterback group with the Philadelphia Eagles that includes starter Jalen Hurts, recently acquired Kenny Pickett, and 2023 rookie Tanner McKee.
