Matthew Judon’s Dolphins Contract Details Released

The contract details for Matt Judon have come out, and it appears that Miami got the veteran pass rusher at a bargain.

Per Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network, it is a 1-year deal with a $1.5 million base salary with a $500K Roster bonus.

A $1M per game bonus, which comes out to $58,823 per game.

The contract includes $3 million in incentives that can be triggered by playing time, if Miami makes the playoffs, on-field production, and if he is selected to the Pro Bowl.

Matthew Judon is 33 years old and a former 5th-round pick of the Ravens in 2016. He has played for the Ravens, Patriots, and Falcons.

Last season in Atlanta, he played in 17 games, started 15, had one interception, and 5.5 sacks.

For his career, he has 72 sacks in 131 games played, of those 131, he started 97.

His PFF numbers last season weren’t great if you’re into PFF. Overall grade of 43, Pass Rush grade of 53.9. and a run defense grade of 53.6.

Chris Grier stated in his media session on Wednesday that the thought process behind signing Judon was due to health concerns with Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips, both of whom are returning from significant injuries.

Grier did say, though, that it also makes a strong position even stronger, so the logic behind the signing was a no-brainer, and it helps on a couple of fronts.

The Dolphins’ pass rush will be key in how far this team goes this upcoming season, as it is the strength of the defense.

The front seven will have to help out the Dolphins’ young and inexperienced secondary.
