The Arizona Coyotes have dealt defenseman Matt Dumba and a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.

Dumba signed a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the Coyotes last summer.

The 29-year-old right-shot defenseman has four goals and six assists for 10 points in 58 games this season with Arizona.

Dumba spent the 2022-23 season with the Minnesota Wild, where he registered four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 79 games while averaging 21:17 of ice time. He added two assists in six Stanley Cup Playoff games as the Dallas Stars eliminated the Wild in the first round.

The 6-foot, 181-pounder made his NHL debut in 2013-14, appearing in 13 games and registering two points in that frame before being returned to the WHL to play for Portland. Dumba found a regular role in the Wild’s line-up the following season. He set a career-high in points during the 2017-18 season, notching 14 goals and 36 assists for 50 points in 82 games. Throughout his 11-year NHL career thus far, Dumba has appeared in 659 games, all with the Coyotes and Wild, collecting 83 goals and 163 assists for 246 points; he has amassed 13 fighting majors.

In 2019-20, Dumba won the King Clancy Trophy, the NHL’s Leadership and Humanitarian Award, and in 2020-21 Dumba was a finalist for the Bill Masterton Trophy.

The Regina, Saskatchewan product was selected No. 7 overall in the 2012 NHL Draft by the Wild. Dumba played for the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League (WHL) during his draft year. He notched 20 goals and 57 points in 69 games that season and represented Team Canada at the IIHF Under-18 World Junior Championships, where he led the entire tournament with 12 points in seven games, capturing a bronze medal. Dumba spent five years in the WHL, collecting 151 points in 225 games with the Red Deer Rebels and Portland Winterhawks. He won the WHL Rookie of the Year trophy in 2010-11.
