Blues cancel practices after multiple test positive for coronavirus

There has been no word on when the 2019-20 NHL season will resume amid the coronavirus pandemic, but things aren't necessarily looking up for one team in the Western Conference.

The St. Louis Blues have canceled practices at the team's facility because of "multiple" positive coronavirus tests,  according to The Athletic's Jeremy Rutherford and Scott Burnside.

According to Rutherford and Burnside, the Blues used the ice at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo. on Thursday but didn't hold Phase 2 workouts on Friday. The facility will remain closed through the July 4th weekend and will reopen on Monday.

While the facility has three sheets of ice and private dressing rooms for the Blues, it was being used by the public on Friday.

On June 23, the NHL permitted teams to allow 12 skaters to practice in one session and about two-thirds of the Blues' roster was skating this week.

This isn't the first time a club has had to shut down their facility due to the coronavirus. The Tampa Bay Lightning shut down their practice facility after three players tested positive for COVID-19. Those players were quarantined, the facility was thoroughly cleaned and was reopened five days later.

The league announced on Monday that 15 of 250-plus players who participated in voluntary workouts tested positive for the coronavirus.
