Brad Marchand gets winner as Bruins beat Leafs to go up 2-1 in series

Boston Bruins captain and super pest Brad Marchand certainly led his team on Wednesday night.

Marchand broke a 2-2 tie with 8:07 left and then added an empty-net goal to give the Bruins a 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena.

The win give Boston a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference first-round playoff series. Game 4 is Saturday at 8 p.m. EST

Marrchand's tie-breaking tally came just 28 seconds after the Maple Leafs Tyler Bertuzzi had tied the game.

Marchand, who also had an assist, added his empty-netter with 36 seconds left. Marchand now has 55 career playoff goals, which ties him with Boston president, Cam Neely, for the Bruins all-time record.

Marchand, 35, is also one of  five players who have scored 400 goals for the Bruins. The others are Hall of Famers Johnny Bucyk and Phil Esposito, along with Patrice Bergeron and Rick Middleton. Marchand has 401, one behind Middleton.

Boston also continued to alternate its goaltenders and Jeremy Swayman was spectacular in making 28 saves.

Trent Frederic and Jake DeBrusk also scored for the Bruins.

Matthew Knies and got the other goal for Toronto, which again was without the services of William Nylander.
