Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask hasn't thought about retirement

Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask isn't thinking about hockey much while the NHL season is on pause due to the coronavirus, but he did answer a question regarding his potential retirement.

Rask's contract is up after the 2020-21 season, and it certainly sounds like he'll want to keep playing past that point.

While the 33-year-old did win a Stanley Cup with the Bruins as a backup goaltender in 2011, Rask is likely seeking a championship title as a starter.

He's led the B's to two Stanley Cup Finals appearances in the last decade (2013, 2019), but unfortunately lost both times to the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues respectively.

Rask was well on his way to leading Boston back to another Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 2020, but that's now in jeopardy due to COVID-19. He's arguably been the best goaltender in the NHL this season with a 26-8-5 record, 2.12 goals against average and .929 save percentage with five shutouts.

While there's no word on whether or not the NHL will resume the season, the American Hockey League, which houses NHL prospects, announced the cancellation of its season on Monday. So, things don't bode well for an NHL return, or any sports in the United States for that matter.

If Rask can't get back to the Stanley Cup Finals within the next two years, it's likely he signs another deal with the Bruins, or moves on to another team when his contract his up.
