One of the young forwards on the Buffalo Sabres is set to get back into game action.

Head coach Don Granato confirmed Jack Quinn will play against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night.

Quinn has been out of the lineup since late January, when he underwent surgery for a lower-body injury, and was eventually placed on injured reserve. He was originally projected to miss eight weeks, with his return to the lineup coming right on schedule.

Quinn has been out of the lineup since Jan. 27, when he had to leave Buffalo’s matchup with the San Jose Sharks early. He has since missed 23 games, where the Sabres have fallen out of playoff contention.

It has been an unlucky 2023-24 campaign for Quinn. After a productive rookie season last year, in which he scored 37 points in 75 games, the Ottawa native missed the first two months of the season after having surgery on his Achilles tendon. He came back in December, and has scored five goals and seven assists.

The 2020 eighth-overall pick has played 94 games in the NHL, scoring 20 goals and 31 assists over that time. Previously, Quinn has played 60 games with the Sabres’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Rochester Americans, potting 28 goals and 42 assists in the minors.

Quinn was also a key member of Team Canada at the 2023 World Junior Championships, helping his country win gold by scoring seven points in 10 games.

The Sabres (34-33-5) are currently sixth in the Atlantic Division, eight points behind the Washington Capitals for the last Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
