Wednesday it was announced that the Milwaukee Admirals have signed former Sabre Cody Hodgson to a PTO. Hodgson had previously announced his retirement back in 2016 after he was diagnosed with malignant hypothermia. The disease was caused by a mutation of his RYR-1 gene and drastically affected his ability to play hockey.

It was previously reported on January 13th by Elliotte Friedman that Hodgson, now at age 33, was attempting a comeback. He had by skating on his own and working with professionals to try to play professionally again.

The Admirals, of course, are the AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators – the team Hodgson officially retired from. The forward re-enters the organization on a tryout basis. He had three goals and five assists in 39 games in his one season with the club after being bought out by the Buffalo Sabres.

Cody Hodgson had 99 points in 218 games with the Sabres after being acquired in a trade for forward Zack Kassian.
