Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has recalled forward Logan Stankoven from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Stankoven currently has tallied a league-leading 24 goals and 33 assists for 57 points in 46 games this season. He ranks first league-wide in points, shares second in goals and fourth in assists.

Stankoven is expected to make his NHL debut tonight against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Stankoven is coming off an illustrious Western Hockey League (WHL) career with the Kamloops Blazers that saw him capture the WHL and CHL Player of the Year Awards in 2021-22 after tallying 104 points. Last season, Kamloops hosted the 2023 KIA Memorial Cup and it was a big season for the Blazers and Stankoven.

He notched 97 points in just 48 games after missing time playing for Team Canada at the World Juniors and sidelined with an injury. During the WHL Playoffs, Stankoven – despite being eliminated a round prior – still led the WHL with 10 goals and 30 points in 14 WHL Playoff contests. He added nine points in four Memorial Cup games.

Throughout his WHL career, the 5-foot-8 forward registered 115 goals and 145 assists for 260 points in 179 games. The Kamloops, British Columbia, product also won back-to-back gold medals with Canada at the 2022 and 2023 World Junior Hockey Championships, registering 10 and 11 points respectively.

In addition, the Stars have loaned defenseman Alexander Petrovic to Texas. Dallas currently sits first in the Central Division with a 34-14-8 record and 76 points through 56 games. Following tonight’s matchup against the Rangers, Dallas is set to face off against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.
