The Norfolk Admirals announced earlier today that 24-year-old goaltender Oskari Salminen has been reassigned to Norfolk from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. The Kotka, Finland native was called up to the Moose following the Admirals Game 1 win of the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs North Division Semifinals against the Trois-Rivieres Lions. Salminen appeared in 12 games for the Moose this season, going 4-7-0 with a 4.00 goals-against average and a .867 save percentage. Salminen has seen action between the pipes for the Admirals this season, playing in 12 games. Salminen went 8-2-1 posting a 2.82 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage while scoring a goal against the Atlanta Gladiators on March 29 to help the Admirals clinch a playoff birth. The Finish goaltender will likely back up Yaniv Perets in Game 3 of the North Division Finals on Wednesday Night vs Adirondack Thunder.

With Salminen’s reassignment, the Admirals released goaltender Logan Neaton from his Amateur Tryout Contract and made him an unrestricted free agent. Neaton didn’t get an appearance while with the Admirals after signing with the team on April 19th, as it’s been Yaniv Peret’s net ever since Salminen was sent up to Manitoba. The 25-year-old goaltender played in a career-high 25 games this past season with Miami University (Ohio), going 6-14-2 with a 3.24 GAA, .894SV%, and one shutout. It was the first time in his collegiate career that he appeared in more than nine games in a single season.
