The Philadelphia Flyers have resigned restricted free agents Wade Allison and Linus Hogberg to new contracts today. Allison has been signed to a two-year, two-way/one-way deal with an average annual value of $785,000, while Högberg signed a one-year, two-way deal with an average annual value of $750,000.
Eight out of the nine Flyers’ restricted free agents have agreed to a new deal. The only player that remains unsigned is Hayden Hodgson.

Allison, 24, was drafted 52nd overall by the Flyers during the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He’s played in 15 career games in Philadelphia, scoring seven points (4G, 3A). During 2021-2022, Allison played in one game before being injured. Allison has struggled to remain healthy during his pro career as it’s been plagued with injuries.
He suffered two ankle injuries in 2021, an elbow injury, and a torn ACL in college. He played in 28 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms during 2021-2022, scoring 17 points (10G, 7A).
Allison is a winger who plays a physical and effective game. He’s a 6’2″, 205lbs power forward who uses his size and physicality to his advantage. He also has a wrist shot that he can pull off with a quick release.
Allison has the potential to become a strong bottom-six forward in Philadelphia. Remaining healthy will be at the forefront of his 2022-2023 season. Allison will be at training camp in September competing for a spot on the opening night roster.
All you need to know about Linus Högberg
Hogberg, 23, is a defenseman who was drafted 139th overall by the Flyers during the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He played in five games with Philadelphia during 2021-2022 and tallied two assists. He was the ninth player to make their Flyers debut last season.
Hogberg spent the majority of the 2021-2022 season with the Phantoms, tallying eight assists in 58 games played. He spent his entire junior career in Sweden and these past two seasons have been about adjusting to the North American game.
The Flyers are loaded with left defensemen in their system. Cam York and Yegor Zamula sit above Hogberg in the depth rankings and Emil Andare’s stock has skyrocketed following the WJC. Hogberg has the potential to become a third-pair defenseman in Philadelphia, but it won’t be an easy task.
2022-2023 will be another season for Hogberg to continue with his development. He was able to keep up with the pace of the NHL during his five-game stint last season. More time in the AHL will be beneficial as he continues to adjust.
Hogberg can potentially see time in Philadelphia next season if injuries occur.
