The Dallas Stars were in Tempe, Ariz., to take on the Arizona Coyotes and string together three consecutive wins. The Stars defeated the Coyotes 4-2 at Mullett Arena. Dallas improved to 44-19-9, while Arizona fell to 29-37-5.

The Stars’ starting lineup featured Miro Heiskanen , Tyler Seguin, Mason Marchment, Matt Duchene, Thomas Harley, and Jake Oettinger . Oettinger made 26 saves for a win. Meanwhile, Coyotes goaltender Connor Ingram made 31 saves in a losing effort.

The Stars wasted little time in opening the first-period scoring. Stars captain Jamie Benn scored on a slap shot to give the Stars an early 1-0 lead at 4:21 of the first period. Wyatt Johnston collected the lone assist on Benn’s 16th of the season.

The Coyotes tied the game at one apiece to wrap up the first-period scoring. Clayton Keller fired a wrist shot into the Stars’ net to tie the game 1-1 at 18:44 of the first period. Nick Schmaltz and Michael Kesselring collected the assists on Keller’s 30th of the season.

The Stars and Coyotes were tied 1-1 at the end of the first period. Dallas outshot Arizona 11-7 after 20 minutes.

The Stars opened the second-period scoring and took a one-goal lead. Tyler Seguin fired a wrist shot into the Coyotes’ net to put the Stars up 2-1 at 2:19 of the second period. Ryan Suter and Matt Duchene collected the assists on Seguin’s 22nd of the season.

The Stars brought a 2-1 lead to the locker room at the end of two periods. Dallas outshot Arizona 28-19 through 40 minutes.

The Coyotes kicked off the third-period scoring and tied the game at two goals apiece. Nick Bjugstad fired a wrist shot past Stars goalie Jake Oettinger to tie the game 2-2 at 7:26 of the third period. Lawson Crouse and Logan Cooley collected the assists on Bjugstad’s 18th of the season.

The Stars regained the lead and made it a one-goal game. Miro Heiskanen blasted a slap shot past Coyotes goalie Connor Ingram for a 3-2 lead at 14:32 of the third period. Tyler Seguin and Matt Duchene collected the assists on Heiskanen’s eighth of the season.

The Coyotes pulled their goalie for an extra attacker, but the Stars capitalized on the empty net. Matt Duchene fired a wrist shot into the Coyotes’ net to make it a 4-2 game at 18:30 of the third period. Tyler Seguin collected the lone assist on Duchene’s 24th of the season.

The Stars defeated the Coyotes 4-2 at the end of regulation. Dallas outshot Arizona 35-28 after a full 60 minutes.
