Golden Knights' Ryan Reaves to have hearing for hit to head on Canucks' Tyler Motte

Vegas Golden Knights tough guy Ryan Reaves could be out for a few games in the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars after a dangerous hit on Vancouver Canucks forward Tyler Motte in Game 7 of their second-round series on Friday night.

Reaves will have a hearing for an illegal check to the head of Motte, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Saturday. Reaves was assessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct on the play.

The 33-year-old has quite the history with the NHL's Department of Player Safety, so he'll likely be suspended for more than one game.

In 2015, he was fined $3,024 for his glove jab of Anze Kopitar that left the Los Angeles Kings forward sidelined for the remainder of the game. The following year in 2016, he was suspended three games for boarding Matt Tennyson of the San Jose Sharks and also was fined $18,145. Finally, he was fined $2,500 last season for high-sticking Sharks forward Joe Thornton.
