On Apr. 6, the Carolina Hurricanes released surprising news surrounding signing prospects – the organization officially signed forward Gleb Trikozov to a three-year-entry-level deal for the 2024-2025 season.

Trikozov is coming to Carolina from the VHL, where he was known for his physicality and high-scoring ability. The organization drafted him during the 2022 NHL draft with the second-round, sixtieth pick. Outside of his VHL time, Trikozov has played in the KHL with eighteen points, and in the MHL with 122 points in 119 regular season games. He joins former UMass defenseman Scott Morrow as a signed prospect for the team. The organization is also expected to sign University of North Dakota forward Jackson Blake in the near future.

While cap space is expected to be an issue in Carolina this offseason, the organization from the outside seems committed to growing their prospect network through signings. The Canes are one of the few NHL teams without an AHL affiliate, which will be another aspect of the prospecting process fans can look out for in the coming years. The next generation of Hurricanes are forming, and fans are certainly excited to have them.
