Jack Eichel: 'It would be pretty cool' to play for hometown Bruins at some point

The Jack Eichel trade speculation continues. However, the Boston Bruins have not been linked to the talented centerman.

Still, that's not stopping the chatter about a possible homecoming for the Massachusetts native, and Eichel himself admitted in an interview with Sara Underwood of Boston 25 News that it would be pretty cool to play for his hometown Bruins.

While it would be difficult for Boston to swing a trade for Eichel this summer, it's still interesting to hear him express at least some desire to someday don the Black and Gold.

He played his college hockey at Boston University and grew up in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts. If Eichel were to join the Bruins, he would unite with several other Massachusetts natives, including Charlie Coyle, Chris Wagner and Matt Grzelcyk.

The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun reported earlier this month that trade conversations between the Sabres and other teams interested in Eichel were "getting more intense and serious." He listed the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers, among others, as potential suitors.

According to the New York Post, the Sabres are asking for at least four pieces that would be equivalent of first-rounders in exchange for Eichel.

The 24-year-old has five years remaining on his contract at $10 million per season. He'll earn a no-move clause after the 2021-22 campaign.
