The Los Angeles Kings placed forward Viktor Arvidsson on Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR). In a corresponding move, the team recalled defender Jordan Spence from their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign.

Arvidsson left early in the third period of the Kings’ game vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets last Wednesday with a lower-body injury, appearing to tweak something during a faceoff.

The 30-year-old has only played four games this season, missing the first 50 games with a back injury. He had two assists in those four games.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Spence has skated in 44 games wth the Kings this season, recording 16 assists. He spent the majority of the last few seasons in the AHL, scoring eight goals and 79 assists for 87 points in 103 games since 2021-22.

Arvidsson has played at least 70 games in a season just once since 2018-19, which came last season when he had 26 goals and 33 assists for 59 points.

Taken in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators, Arvidsson spent seven seasons with the club, scoring 127 goals and 112 assists for 239 points. He joined the Kings ahead of the 2021-22 season, where he’s scored 46 goals and 64 assists for 110 points in 147 games.

Through his 10-year NHL career, Arvidsson has 173 goals and 176 assists for 349 points in 532 games.

The Kings are 28-17-19 with 66 points, fourth in the Pacific Division and holding onto the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. They play again on Saturday against the Anaheim Ducks, puck drop at 7:30 PST.
