The Los Angeles Kings announced Monday the signing of forward Samuel Fagemo to a one-year, $775,000 deal for the 2024-25 campaign.

Last season, the 24-year-old Fagemo scored 43 goals and 19 assists for 62 points in 50 games with the Kings’ AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign. He also scored a league-leading 19 power play goals, the most in a single AHL season since Chris Terry scored as many in 2016-17.

He would be named AHL Player of the week in early March.

Through four AHL seasons, Fagemo has 103 goals and 53 assists for 156 points in 201 career minor-league games.

The winger also appeared in eight games in the NHL last season: four with the Kings and four with the Nashville Predators, scoring once with the Predators. In 21 career NHL games, Fagemo has three goals and an assist for four points.

Fagemo was placed on waivers by the Kings before the start of the 2023-24 season and claimed by the Predators, but a month later, the Predators would place him on waivers, where he would be claimed by the Kings.

Drafted in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Fagemo played Frolunda HC of Sweden’s top pro league before going to North America, scoring 27 goals and 20 assists for 47 points in two seasons.

The Kings went 44-27-11 with 99 points in 2023-24, finishing third in the Pacific Division. They were eliminated in the first round by the Edmonton Oilers in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Jim Hiller, who took over as the Kings’ interim head coach Feb. 2 when the club fired Todd McLellan, was 23-15-10 for 56 points with the club. After the team was eliminated by the Oilers, they removed the interim tag and signed Hiller to a three-year contract extension.
