More injury concerns for the captain in Sin City.

According to Vegas Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon, forward Mark Stone is going to be “out for a while” due to injury.

Stone left the Golden Knights’ game against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night with an upper-body injury. It looked like Stone was injured late in the second period when he was hit by Yakov Trenin of the Predators in the neutral zone.

Stone did not return in the third period, and Trenin was called for interference on the play.

McCrimmon was on a recent episode of The Sick Podcast – The Eye Test, talking with former NHL coach Pierre McGuire and Boston Bruins reporter Jimmy Murphy. McCrimmon revealed that Stone is going to potentially miss a number of games.

“We’ll see what that timeline looks like.” McCrimmon also stated.

The Winnipeg native had been having a healthy 2023-24 campaign after missing a number of months last season due to back problems, before returning to be a key part of the Golden Knights’ run to the franchise’s first Stanley Cup. Stone also played in the Finals against the Florida Panthers with a fractured wrist, fighting through the pain to score a hat trick in the clinching Game 5 win.

Stone has played every single game so far this season, scoring 16 goals and 37 assists in 56 games, which leads the team by nine points.

A number of key players on Vegas’ roster have missed time this season, as Jack Eichel, William Karlsson, Chandler Stephenson and others have been out of the lineup due to ailments.

Nevertheless, the Golden Knights (32-18-6) have one of the best records in the league. They are currently second in the Pacific Division, 10 points back of the Vancouver Canucks for first in the division, and the NHL.

Vegas will be playing the Toronto Maple Leafs in their next game on Thursday night.
