NHL best bets: +128 SGP for Wednesday, Jan. 17
We originally had an article targeting the Buffalo Sabres tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks, but that game was postponed and our bets were voided. We'd still like to offer you some NHL content and analysis, so we turn instead to the Florida Panthers offense against the Detroit Red Wings for one simple read tonight.
Carter Verhaeghe & Sam Bennett 1+ point each (+128 DraftKings)
We are loving the correlated nature that is these SGPs involving player points, a strategy we plan to stick with for the foreseeable future. Verhaeghe and Bennett share a line with Matthew Tkachuk, and as long as the trio can generate a bit of scoring on the ice, it's very likely that these two get involved in the fun.
Verhaeghe has 15 points in his last nine games, while Bennett has seven in his past eight. Both just accounted for two points on Monday and will look to keep that rolling against a Detroit team allowing 3.4 goals per game on the road over the past month.
Matthew Tkachuk, who we mentioned shares a line with these, has a points line set at 1.5, so the books are certainly expecting Florida's second line to generate some scoring tonight.
Bennett and Verhaeghe both also share the ice on Florida's top power play, giving us plenty of chances to deliver a win on this SGP combo.
