NHL best bets: Two props for Wednesday 3/1

Wednesday's NHL slate brings with it six games, and we're taking a simplistic approach to our night on the ice. Our focus tonight is on teams primed to score, and loading up the guys that are set to make it happen.

Jason Robertson goal (+112 FD)

I backed Jason Robertson last game and he failed me, and now I've put myself in a position where I think the only thing to do is continue betting him to score until he does again. I've talked about it before but players like this are just too good to go too many games without finding the back of the net. It's been two whole games — gasp! — since Robertson scored, but given the matchup, I like him to get back in on the scoring fun here.

Arizona has allowed 3.5 goals per game over their last 10 on the road, and the Coyotes offer the Stars a nice opportunity to figure out their power play woes, owning a bottom-10 penalty killing rate thanks to handing out 3.8 power-play opportunities per game over the past 20 days.

After six straight games without a PP goal, Dallas now has scored two in their past three games, and I like them to find another here. Robertson makes both this offense and their power play run, and for a team in desperate need of a spark, he's the man I trust most to deliver.

Robertson is averaging 7.4 shot attempts per game in his last five, and he had two goals against Arizona back in November. I'll be looking to Robertson's shots today too, hoping to grab him at the 5+ market typically offered later in the day on FanDuel.

Dallas needs to figure things out and quickly. They've lost six of their past seven games, including five straight at home. Their Central division lead has shrunk to just one point, with multiple teams breathing down their neck.

If not now against Arizona, when?

John Tavares & TJ Oshie 1+ point each (+178 FD)

Two of my favorite spots for goals lie on the Toronto and Washington end. For the Maple Leafs, I lean the over in their game against Edmonton, and seeing as a power play edge lies squarely in their favor, I opted to poke around on their end to find me a player producing at a steady rate.

It's John Tavares who makes the cut for me. He has 12 points over his last 10 games and 15 in his past nine on the road. Against the Oilers, Tavares has a point in eight of their past 10 meetings, including five power play points. At just -160, he seems like a wonderful parlay leg tonight.

I'll pair with TJ Oshie from the late game, a man on a tear right now. Oshie was a guy I woke up knowing I wanted a piece of. He's racked up six points over his last three games, four of which have been goals.

Anaheim is a team I'll gladly continue targeting for props, they're allowing 41.4 shots and 4.5 goals per game in their last 10 at home. Oshie scored against the Ducks last Thursday and has a point in two straight meetings.

This is another game where a power play goal seems likely for the Caps, and Oshie is a member of PP1, with two points skating a man-up in his last three - including that goal against the Ducks.

I like pairing this early game with the 10pm game, because if Tavares lets us down, it gives us the freedom to look to play Oshie in a different way before his game gets going.
