NHL bets: Two of our favorite point plays for Saturday's sizable slate

It's a loaded Saturday of puck action today, and we're drawn to a few of the stars to step up on home ice. We could easily have added four more plays to this piece, but instead we'll focus on our favorites to find us some winning NHL bets together.

David Pastrnak over 1.5 points (+110 DraftKings)

Something about afternoon games seems to get the most out of David Pastrnak. This is very anecdotal, I don't have "David Pastrnak afternoon stats" on hand or accessible, but I always bet Pastrnak on Saturday afternoons, and I always seem to leave with a winning bet in hand.

By all means, consider his goal, as that's typically the route I take, but I like the price on him here to go over 1.5 points.

Boston seems well-positioned to pour it on here at home, they're averaging 4.5 goals at TD Garden over the past month and a half, which coincides nicely with the Capitals surrendering 4.2 goals per game on the road in the same stretch.

The Bruins have averaged 3.8 goals per game across their last 10 meetings with Washington, and Pastrnak has been a big reason why. Pasta has 2+ points in six of the past seven games against the Caps, and seeing that he has hit this points threshold in seven of his last 10 overall has me confident he'll keep it rolling this afternoon.

Matthew Tkachuk & Carter Verhaeghe 1+ point each (-105 DK)

At this point in my SGP experimenting I've resigned myself to this: if I want this approach to be successful, I need to trust in talented linemates and go back to them again and again.

That's what I'll do here with Matthew Tkachuk and Carter Verhaeghe, two guys I backed to failure earlier this week. I expect a high-paced game today against a Colorado team that only seems to see such games of late.

It stands to reason that these two will get involved. Verhaeghe has 20 points in his past 15 and Tkachuk has 26 in those 15 games. Against Colorado, Tkachuk has 12 points in his past six meetings while Verhaeghe has seven in his last five.
