NHL Thursday bets: Five plus-money SOG plays

Our week has been going well on the ice, and by all means the best course of action is to continue stacking wins in the SOG market. We have solid matchups across the board, and with it brings five plus-money plays for Thursday in the NHL.

Kyle Connor over 3.5 SOG (+102 FD)

I certainly want to target Columbus tonight, they allow 34.6 shots per game at home over their last 10 and have been one of the friendlier foes we've had all season.

I'm drawn to Kyle Connor, who is over 3.5 shots in two of his last three games. Connor hopped on my radar when I navigated over to Winnipeg's road production. Connor is topping the Jets in volume in his past five on the road, averaging 8.6 attempts/game and 5.4 SOG/game, going over tonight's line four times.

Connor has gone over in two of his past three against the Blue Jackets, and at this price I'm willing to dance.

Evgeny Kuznetsov over 2.5 SOG (+140 FD)

Florida games typically turn into shots-a-paloozas, and Washington is the latest to get in on the action. The Panthers are allowing 32 shots per game on the road over their past 10.

Alex Ovechkin is out for the foreseeable future, meaning players like Evgeny Kuznetsov and TJ Oshie are going to need to step up and generate offense. I initially liked Oshie, but upon further review, Kuznetsov's value is too good to ignore here.

With Ovechkin out of the lineup, Kuznetsov has gone for 3+ shots in two straight and five of his last seven. Kuz has also enjoyed some nice games against the Panthers lately, going over tonight's 2.5 line in five of his last seven. +140 is too good to pass up.

Jordan Eberle over 2.5 SOG (+146 FD)

Seattle looks like a solid bet for 30-34 shots tonight, seeing as they're averaging 32.3 at home over their past 10 and Philly is seeing 31.4 against them on the road in the same stretch.

Jordan Eberle is an interesting study here. He's gone over 2.5 just once in his past six games (more like once in his last nine, but stay with me).

Despite hitting three SOG just once in this six-game stretch, Eberle has two SOGs in every single miss, and he's had a steady stream of attempts, five or more in each game. When Eberle gets 5+ attempts off, he covers this 2.5 line in 64% of games this year (16 of 25).

I like that volume to continue, and eventually he needs to break through the hump and cover this line again. Eberle has enjoyed some success against the Flyers in the past, averaging 3.5 SOG/game over his last four meetings. I'm feeling daring tonight and grabbing Eberle at some tantalizing odds.

Sebastian Aho & Pierre-Luc Dubois over 2.5 SOG (+165 DK)

This is a relatively simple one: we need to target Montreal for shots, especially with Carolina's explosive offense on the other end, and Columbus is a team worth double-dipping against.

Dubois is over 2.5 shots in eight of his last nine on the road and two straight against the Blue Jackets. Aho is over 2.5 in six of his last seven at home and eight straight against the Canadiens.

Justin Faulk over 2.5 SOG (+114 FD)

We'll wrap with Blues defenseman Justin Faulk, who has been stacking some big shooting efforts over his past few games.

Faulk has racked up 15 SOG in his last three games on 21 attempts, and considering New Jersey is allowing the ninth-most shots to defensemen over the past 10 games, I'm willing to bet Faulk's volume can continue.

The Devils have been far looser to shots lately, allowing 33.6 per game over their last 10 on the road.
