The Edmonton Oilers took down the Vegas Golden Knights again in Game 2 of their second-round playoff matchup. The Oilers once again pulled off a comeback win, and they extended the NHL playoff record to six games.
Edmonton will now be heading back home up 2-0 in the series, offering them a solid chance to take control of this matchup. The Oilers have been finding different ways to win games, something that, before this postseason, many couldn't say about this team.
It has been impressive to watch, and Edmonton is looking like a team determined to get back to the Stanley Cup Final. The Oilers lost in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final a year ago, but this team looks like they are on a mission.
After Game 2 ended, Oilers star Connor McDavid discussed the way that the team has been winning. Within, he also sent a warning to other teams, saying that the Oilers' best hockey is still to come.
“The group’s obviously feeling confident, but I feel like our best is still coming,” McDavid said, in what the rest of the league can only read as a threat. “We’re just building and building our game. I feel like our best is still coming and I hope to see it at home here.”
The Oilers have been on a roll of late, winning six straight games. It's a scary thought for other teams if they can be better, but Edmonton is looking to avoid these comeback wins.
Edmonton will take the wins no matter what, but they would likely rather have control of the game. For now, the Oilers have controlled this series, and they are in a good place as they head into Game 3.
