The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired forward Emil Bemstrom from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, sending forward Alex Nylander and a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2026 to Columbus.

Bemstrom, signed through this season, has a contract with an average annual value of $900,000 at the NHL level.

He has split time this season between the Blue Jackets and their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters.

Bemstrom, 24, collected five goals and six assists in 32 games with the Blue Jackets, the franchise with whom he has spent all five of his NHL seasons.

In 204 career games, Bemstrom has 31 goals and 38 assists.

Bemstrom was a fourth-round selection (117th overall) by Columbus in the 2017 NHL Draft.

Nylander, 25, has 14 goals and 20 assists in 98 games over parts of six NHL seasons with the Buffalo Sabres (2016-19), Chicago Blackhawks (2019-20) and Penguins (2022-24).
