The Pittsburgh Penguins announced that they have signed free agent forward Lars Eller to a two-year, $4.9M contract. According to the official release, the contract will have an average annual value (AAV) of $2.45M and will run through 2024-25.

Eller spent the 2022-23 season split between the Washington Capitals and Colorado Avalanche. While with the Avalanche, he posted three goals and four assists for seven points in 24 regular season games. With the Caps, he posted 16 points in 60 games. In total, Eller collected 23 points in 84 games. He added zero points in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Avs.

The Rødovre, Denmark product has spent the last seven seasons with the Capitals prior to being dealt to Colorado. In 2017-18, Eller notched a career-high 38 points in 81 games and added 18 points in 24 games as the Capitals went on to win the Stanley Cup. He scored the Stanley Cup-winning goal for the Capitals.

Eller was initially drafted No. 13 overall in the 2007 NHL Draft by the St. Louis Blues and made his National Hockey League debut in 2009-10, with the Blues scoring two goals in seven games. He was dealt to the Montreal Canadiens the following season, where he would play six seasons. 

Throughout his career thus far, Eller has appeared in 954 NHL games and is rapidly approaching the 1000-game milestone. He has notched 163 goals and 208 assists for 371 points in that frame.
