Pittsburgh Penguins President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas announced Saturday that the club has agreed to terms with Tristan Broz on a three-year, entry-level contract. The contract will have an average annual value (AAV) of $950,000.

Broz will join the Penguins’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the remainder of the season on an amateur tryout contract.

The 21-year-old just wrapped up his season with the University of Denver Pioneers where he captured an NCAA National Championship, the 10th in Pioneers history. This season, he set career highs across the board with 16 goals, 24 assists and 40 points in 43 games. Broz ranked tied for third among Pioneers skaters for goals and fourth in points. During the Frozen Four tournament, he notched two crucial overtime goals against the University of Massachusetts and Boston University. Broz was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team.

Broz spent three seasons in the NCAA, one with the University of Minnesota and two with Denver. He tallied 32 goals and 47 assists for 79 points in 119 games. During the 2021-22 season, he won the NCAA B1G Championship and won back-to-back NCHC Championships with Denver.

Wikes-Barre ranks third in the Atlantic Division with a 36-24-8-1 record and 85 points through 71 games with one game remaining on the 2023-24 regular season schedule.

The Bloomington, Minnesota product was oringally selected No. 58 overall by the Penguins in the 2021 NHL Draft. Prior to his NCAA career, Broz spent parts of three seasons with the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League (USHL) where he recorded 34 goals, 56 assists and 90 points in 108 games.
