Player Profile: Andrew Peeke

Andrew Peeke was born on March 17, 1998, in Parkland, Florida, and played with the Selects Academy 16U AAA team of the USPHL during the 2013-14 season and posted one goal and nine assists in 28 games. The next season, Peeke jumped to the Selects Academy 18U AAA team, and the defenseman flourished with eight goals and 12 assists in 28 games. This allowed Peeke to play with the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL during the 2015-16 season. The 6-foot-3, 216-pound defenseman registered four goals and 26 assists in 56 games.

Andrew Peeke Drafted in the Second Round of the 2016 NHL Draft

The Columbus Blue Jackets selected defenseman Andrew Peeke with the 34th overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft. Peeke spent three seasons at the University of Notre Dame from 2016-2019, playing 119 games with 12 goals and 40 assists, and was the captain during his junior season. The blue liner signed with the Blue Jackets after that season and split time with the NHL club and the AHL Cleveland Monsters during the 2019-20 season. In 22 games with Columbus, Peeke scored one goal with two assists. With the Monsters, Peeke suited up for 29 games with five goals and 16 assists.

Andrew Peeke’s NHL Debut To Today

On December 5, 2019, Peeke made his NHL debut for the Blue Jackets in a game against the New York Rangers in Columbus. Peeke played 17 shifts in 12:53 of ice time and collected one shot on net and three hits. Peeke’s first NHL goal came on February 16, 2020, against the New Jersey Devils in a shootout loss. The defenseman played 218 regular season games in Columbus with 10 goals and 32 assists.
