Friday afternoon’s contest between the Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche at Bridgestone Arena will not take place today after a water main break this morning caused the game to be postponed.

No makeup date has been confirmed as of yet. The Predators are also set to host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, with a decision on that game to be made later.

According to an NHL statement, the flooding “significantly impacted the event level of the arena.” The game was set to begin at 1:05 PM CT, with the Preds looking to avenge their 5-3 loss to the Avalanche back on Nov. 10.

According to Nashville-based news outlet WKRN, water began pouring in from a sidewalk around 5:00 a.m. this morning. The Predators were set to open up a two-game slate at Bridgestone Arena, with the Music City Hockey Classic college game between Northeastern and Western Michigan set for later in the evening. No decision has been made on that game.

Nashville currently sits sixth in the Central Division with 20 points, putting them in a three-way tie with St. Louis and Minnesota. Nashville had a rough start to the season but has found its pace in recent weeks with a 6-3-1 record over the past 10 games. The Avalanche have followed up their 2022 Stanley Cup in style by sitting second behind Dallas in the Central, posting a 7-3-0 record in the past 10 outings.

Even without the game at Bridgestone, the NHL will have one of its busiest nights of the season with 26 teams taking part in 13 games. The Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes open things up at 1:00 p.m. ET, with four others games taking place in the afternoon. There were no games on Thursday for U.S. Thanksgiving, so this is a nice little treat for most other fanbases.
