The Vancouver Canucks have been keeping close tabs on Minnesota Wild forward Brandon Duhaime in advance of next month’s trade deadline, Daily Faceoff hockey insider Frank Seravalli reported Monday morning.

Duhaime, 26, has four goals, six points, 64 penalty minutes, and a minus-8 rating in 58 games with the Wild this year. The 6’2″ winger is under contract through the end of the 2023–24 season at a $1.1 million cap hit.

Seravalli further discussed the prospect of the Wild trading Duhaime on Monday’s episode of the DFO Rundown podcast. Minnesota is currently sixth in the Central Division with a 28-24-6 record and 62 points in 58 games.

“I wouldn’t be shocked if they traded Brandon Duhaime,” Seravalli said. “I believe the Vancouver Canucks are very interested in Duhaime. […] They’re in on everything. The most aggressive traders in the league.”

Duhaime checked in at No. 29 on Daily Faceoff‘s latest Trade Targets board. Here’s what Seravalli had to say about the Coral Springs, Florida product on Friday:

Scoop: Like Marc-Andre Fleury above him, the Wild probably aren’t seeking to sell as they’re squarely in the race. But Duhaime is certainly intriguing. If you don’t watch the Wild play regularly, Duhaime’s stat line isn’t going to get you excited. But if you watch, his noticeable speed has certainly caught the attention of opposing teams. Duhaime is an ideal fourth line winger on a contender. He harnesses his speed and work ethic to be an aggressive, impact player on the forecheck. He makes smart plays. Last year, he chipped in with nine goals – nearly reaching double digits – and he barely cracks 10 minutes per night. He also has an edge and toughness to his game that is somewhat rare these days.

The Wild originally selected Duhaime in the fourth round (No. 106 overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft. He spent the following three seasons at Providence College before signing with the Wild in 2019.

Since making his NHL debut with the Wild in the 2021–22 season, Duhaime has collected 19 goals, 33 points, and 228 penalty minutes in 189 career games. He’s been held scoreless in 12 career playoff contests.

The 2024 NHL trade deadline is scheduled for March 8.
