Report: Penguins agree to six-year extension with Bryan Rust
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, the Pittsburgh Penguins and forward Bryan Rust have agreed to a six-year contract extension.
Seravalli reports the deal, while not signed yet, could be worth $5.2M per year.
Rust, 30, is in the final year of a four-year, $14M contract signed ahead of the 2018-19 season. He made $3.5M this season.
In 60 regular-season games for Pittsburgh in 2021-22, Rust posted 24 goals and 34 points for a career-high 58 points.
Rust recorded two goals and six assists in seven postseason games. The Penguins were eliminated in the opening round of the playoffs, falling in seven games to the New York Rangers.
A third-round pick by the Penguins in 2010, Rust has spent his entire eight-year NHL career in Pittsburgh.
Rust was a part of the Penguins' back-to-back Stanley Cup championship teams in 2016 and 2017.
In 424 career games, Rust has 124 goals and 146 assists for 270 points.
