Free Agency has opened and a ton of moves have already taken place in the hour leading into it. Per multiple reports, the NJ Devils are signing Dougie Hamilton to a 7-year deal with an AAV over $9 million.

Dougie Hamilton signs with Devils

After seeing what Seth Jones signed for in Chicago it was likely that Hamilton was in line for a new deal in the $9 million AAV range.

The Hurricanes allowed Hamilton to talk with other teams and NJ pushed hard for him.

Hamilton finished the season with 42 points in 55 games. He will lead the future of the Devils blue-line which added Jack Hughes’ younger brother Luke in the NHL Draft last week.

We will update once official.
