On his weekly appearance on WGR550 in Buffalo this morning, Buffalo Sabres head coach Don Granato stated that Jack Quinn will return to practice Tuesday as a full participant. Quinn missed 23 games with a lower-body injury after returning from an Achilles injury that kept him out most of the first half of the season.

“I will tell you with some excitement that Jack Quinn’s going to rejoin us in practice today,” Granato said on the Jeremy & Joe Show this morning. “He stayed back during the break…pretty much skated every day to build that strength back up in the area of injury. We’ll get a good look at him today to see where he’s at in a full practice.”

The prospect of a Quinn return is one Sabres players, coaches, and fans should all be excited about.

“That’s very exciting,” Granato said. “He is a key, key player for us.”

When asked if Quinn can be expected to play again this season, Granato responded, “Yes, based on this absolutely. And sooner than later.”

Quinn’s Return

How Quinn looks and responds in practice remains to be seen. The same goes for his status for Wednesday’s game. His potential addition to the lineup would be a welcome one, as the recent stacking of JJ Peterka, Tage Thompson, and Alex Tuch has left the scoring depth cupboard bare.

Quinn has been limited to only 17 games this season, scoring five goals and 12 points in that limited time. That’s a 57-point pace across an 82-game season.

Granato also discussed the road trip, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Kyle Okposo, Tage Thompson, and the upcoming homestand on his radio appearance. You can hear the full interview with Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase here:

We’ll know more about Jack Quinn’s status after practice Tuesday. The Sabres are scheduled to skate at 11 am.
