The Jakob Chychrun sweepstakes are over.

The Ottawa Senators announced Wednesday afternoon that they have acquired the defenseman from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a 2023 first-round pick (top-five protected), a conditional 2024 second-round pick (previously acquired from the Washington Capitals) and a 2026 second-round pick.

The conditions for the picks are as followed: the 2023 first-round pick is top five protected. If met, the pick becomes a 2024 first-round pick unprotected. If the Senators reach the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals, the second-round pick becomes a 2024 first-round pick, top-10 protected. If that condition is met, the pick becomes a 2025 first-round pick unprotected.

The long-time Coyotes defenseman has been involved in heavy trade rumors for over a year now. He has sat out almost three weeks due to trade-related reasons and was among one of the top candidates to be traded by Friday’s trade deadline.

Chychrun was ranked No. 1 on Frank Seravalli’s most recent Trade Targets Board, with the Senators listed as the top team linked to the high-end blueliner.

This season, Chychrun has registered 28 points (seven goals, two assists) in 36 games, also racking up 43 hits and 56 shot blocks.

Drafted 16th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, Chychrun has spent his entire career as a member of the Coyotes, making his debut in 2016-17.

In total, he spent seven years in Arizona, registering 60 goals and 110 assists for 170 points in 373 career games.
