If there’s one thing the Pittsburgh Penguins equipment managers know about Sidney Crosby, it’s that he is extremely particular about his equipment.

Ever since being drafted by the Penguins, his equipment and game day habits have become synonymous with Crosby.

That’s why it’s something to follow as he may be experimenting with a new stick blade.

Crosby has made small equipment adjustments and changes over the years, but never anything too big, he still wears the same Jofa/Reebok set of shoulder pads he’s had since he was still new to the league.

According to Elliotte Friedman in his written 32 Thoughts, Crosby told Sports Net’s Kyle Bukauskas that he’s been giving a new curve a try at practices.

Crosby is giving former Penguins forward Jared McCann’s blade a try in hopes of becoming a better shooter.

It doesn’t seem like Crosby’s given the new blade a twirl in games, but he is on pace to score 51 goals and tie a career high.

While Crosby has always been known as one of the best players in the game, he’s never stood out as a phenomenal goal scorer; he’s always predicated his game on play making and passing.

Goals have come at a high pace for Crosby over his nearly two decades in the league, with 569 in his career, but he’s also approaching 1,000 career assists.

Crosby is always looking for ways to keep up in with the NHL’s best players around him, and shooting more and finding new stick blades seems to be another way to keep improving.
